The game follows the story of Crono. After multiple incidents in their present, the year 1000AD, Crono and his companions find themselves in the dystopian future of 2300AD. They learn that humanity got wiped out by Lavos, a giant creature that first appeared a few hundred years prior. With this knowledge in hand, the group starts a journey that takes the protagonists through various time periods.

But not only the game itself has legendary status among fans and critics alike, as the people who worked on it are some of the most well-known names in the sphere of game development. The developer staff was often referred to as the „dream team“.

Part of this team, and leading game designer, was non-other than the legendary Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of the Final Fantasy series. Sakaguchi partnered up with  Yūji Horii, who rose to fame for creating the Dragon Quest series. One of the most iconic members of the team was none other than Akira Toriyama.

Toriyama, the famous mangaka and originator of the Dragon Ball universe, took care of the character design. A legend like him adding his DNA to the game created a one of a kind look and character depth to the game.

The „dream team“ was rounded out by Takashi Tokita and Akihiko Matsui, who were on the Final Fantasy team before.
